Formardå designed and documented this nightlife venue in Fortitude Valley, converting an existing building into a licensed entertainment space within Brisbane's premier nightlife precinct. The project covered full building design, drafting, and Development Approval (DA) and Building Approval (BA) documentation.

The Brief

The brief called for a venue that could deliver a strong atmosphere and smooth patron flow across the night, while working within the practical realities of an existing building shell rather than a clean-slate design.

The Approach

Designing a nightlife venue brings considerations beyond a typical commercial fit-out — patron circulation, bar and service zone placement, and how the space performs once it's full and operating at night, all had to be resolved within the existing structure. Formardå managed the full process, from concept design through to the documentation required for planning and building approval, working through Brisbane City Council's requirements for a licensed venue in the Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct.

The Result

The finished venue makes confident use of its existing shell, delivering a space designed specifically around how a nightlife venue actually operates — for patrons moving through it and for the business running it — in one of Brisbane's most established entertainment precincts.
